An Introduction to Co-occurring Disorders

The purpose of this training is to equip nursing facility staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, assess, and respond effectively to co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use disorders) among residents, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided in the facility.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define co-occurring disorders.
  2. Recognize the prevalence and common types of co-occurring disorders among elderly populations.
  3. Identify signs and symptoms of co-occurring disorders in nursing facility residents.
  4. Understand the importance of holistic care and interdisciplinary collaboration in managing co-occurring disorders.
