Gain a better understanding of older adult mental illness and learn new skills with this free, three-episode video training series. The videos are intended to boost your confidence when caring for older adults and help you learn basic skills you can use to prevent and de-escalate mental health crises. The training series includes a facilitator guide, fact sheets, checklists, and other tools viewers can download and print. Each video includes a ten-question quiz along with a quiz checker with the correct answers and a corresponding time stamp where the question topic is presented in the video. Established by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), in partnership with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the COE-NF offers Certified Medicare and Medicaid Nursing Facility Staff a centralized resource hub with easy access to trainings, technical assistance and additional resources, at no cost.

What We Do

We help nursing facilities to improve the quality of life and care provided for residents who are experiencing a variety of behavioral health disorders, with a focus on Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders (COD).
