Trauma Informed Care Training - Part 2: Trauma-Informed Principles, “Behaviors,” and Activated Nervous System

August 24, 2023

2 - 3 p.m. EST

In this session, we’ll continue our exploration of trauma-informed care concepts—including the six trauma-informed principles, triggers, and how an activated nervous system can impact a person’s behaviors—and how to integrate that knowledge into daily resident interactions.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss trauma-informed principles and how a trauma-informed culture supports residents and staff.
  2. Explain how triggers impact a person’s behavior.
  3. Describe how the nervous system may respond when it perceives a threat and why it’s important for staff to be aware of this during resident interactions.
